BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD EXECUTIVE SESSION MONDAY

An executive session is scheduled for the Brenham School Board on Monday.

Trustees are expected to consult with an attorney and discuss personnel matters.  According to the agenda, they will also “potentially take action on potential appointment of [an] acting superintendent and authorize creation of a supplemental agreement to memorialize the decision.”

KWHI contacted Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin, Communications Director Brooke Trahan and Board President Natalie Lange to attempt to clarify what is listed in the agenda.  Trahan told KWHI this (Friday) morning she would look into the matter and reach back out later, but no further response has been received from her or from Dr. Chaplin or Lange as of 5 p.m. today.

Dr. Chaplin announced in July that he would retire as superintendent at the end of December.  The board is working with the Texas Association of School Boards Executive Search Services to conduct the search for a new superintendent.  A survey is open for the public to give input on what characteristics they would like to see in their ideal candidate.

The board will meet Monday at 11 a.m. in the Brenham ISD Administration Office.

  1. Brenham, pray for your teachers, or better yet, check on them. They are the ones paying the price of bad financial decisions with larger classes, smaller take-home pay, more paperwork and micromanagement, and little to no time to do everything asked of them. They aren’t going to say anything for fear of retaliation, but some are not okay.

  2. The Leadership Profile Questionnaire is flawed because there are no controls on who can access it and no limits on how many times it can be completed by the same person. It’s useless.

  3. I completely agree something isn’t adding up. Where is all the money going? Why aren’t our schools safe healthy places for our kids? Why aren’t the teachers paid more when the superintendent is making so much? Why can’t 504 and special education kids get the help they need? All of this should also be discussed in open with the public. These closed door sessions are ridiculous and make people think you’re hiding something.

  4. So this deficit…is this why my little daughter comes home with 5 milllion fundraisers saying “Mommy they said we need to try really really hard” and why our Junior High still looks like something out of the movie Saw??
I keep being disappointed by this district and I am seriously considering a transfer OUT of district…it was a thought before but it’s definitely seeming like a must. Superintendent salary of $200k+ but our teachers can barely pay their bills? Unbelievable.

    1. Did the school your little one attends, mention what the fundraiser was for? I have been blown away by what our local schools don’t provide for our teachers, para’s and staff. Some even limiting the amount of copies that can be ran for the semester/school year. I wonder who benefits from fundraiser money from those sent home from the school directly, not the PTO or other groups.

  5. Sounds like some funny business going on here…..

What are they covering up or trying to cover up???? When will people realize Lange should go along this superintendent???
