Federal prosecutors say 45-year-old Darren Lewis was sentenced Thursday for his role in the robberies of two hotels in suburban Dallas in late 2012 and a convenience store in Dallas in January 2013.

Back in May, Lewis pleaded guilty to charges that include brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.  Christopher Washington, an accomplice in the robberies, has pleaded guilty to similar charges and will be sentenced later.

From 1987-1990, Lewis rushed for 5,012 yards at Texas A&M. Lewis led the Aggies in rushing for three straight seasons. He was drafted in 1991 by the Chicago Bears.
