AUSTIN COUNTY JUDGE PLACES RESTRICTIONS ON OUTDOOR BURNING

The Austin County Commissioners Court and County Judge on Monday morning placed an order restricting outdoor burning to all or part of the unincorporated area of the county.

The restriction means that outdoor burning prohibits the use of combustible materials in an outdoor environment by any one of the  combustible materials include, but not limited to burning of trash and brush, open campfires and materials used in welding.

Outdoor welding will be allowed if the wind is not over 15 miles per hour, the welder notifies the Austin County Sheriff’s Department before beginning, all grass, leaves and other combustible materials must be cleared at within a fifty foot radius surrounding the welding area and a spotter with water and ready-pressurized delivery system must be on hand.

Austin and surrounding counties have been under a burn ban since August 11th due to drought conditions.
