DISPUTE TURNS TO ROBBERY AT BRENHAM CONVENIENCE STORE

An 18-year old Brenham man was arrested for robbery this week in a incident that began as a dispute over the price of an item.

Police reports say Devonte Deshaun Dorsey began arguing with the cashier at a convenience store at 102 East Blue Bell Road just before one pm on Tuesday.  The argument got so heated that Dorsey allegedly socked the cashier in the face, then took the item.  Another man was with him and both fled the scene.

The men headed towards the North Park Apartments.  Dorsey was apprehended and taken back to the store.  The clerk was able to identify him.   A crowd had gathered at the store by that time and that included the other man with Dorsey. He, however, was not arrested because Dorsey said he had no part in the incident.

Dorsey is charged with robbery.
