PRAIRIE VIEW’S “MARCHING STORM” CHOSEN FOR 2017 MACY’S PARADE
The Prairie View A&M Marching Band will be performing in front of a national audience when it performs in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, next year.
Wesley Whatley, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Creative Director made the announcement when he flew in for the day from New York to share the surprise news with the 260 member band.
The Marching Storm has been selected to represent this school for the first time in New York City in the 2017 parade.
Prairie View A&M Band Director Timmey Zachery says he believes the selection will “open a lot of avenues not only for the band but the entire institution."
About 330 members are expected to participate next year.
