BRENHAM CUBS & CUBETTES DROP HOOPS DOUBLEHEADER

The Brenham Cubs and Cubettes basketball teams dropped both ends of a double-header at the Brenham High School gymnasium, Tuesday night.

In the opener, A&M Consolidated downed the Cubettes (4-3) 61-58.

The Cubettes trailed 20-15 after the first quarter, and 32-25 at the half.

Brenham cut the lead to two points (43-41) by the end of the third quarter.

The Cubettes were led by Ke’Auna Bimage, who had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Bryanna Jerkins added 14 points and Alicia Jackson dished out 11 assists.

A.J. Starks led the Lady Tigers with 28 points and Lydia Garcia added 13.

The Cubettes will be back in action Friday night when they host Bellville at the Brenham gym at 6:30.

In the night cap, the Cubs dropped their season opener to Manor, 80-57.

The Mustangs jumped out to fast starts in both the first and third quarters, outscoring the Cubs, 24-14 in the first and 27-12 in the third.

The Cubs were led by Anthony Hutchinson with 18 points, while Jarvis Henderson and Matt Adams each chipped in nine points.

Darian McDonald led the Mustangs with 27 points.

The Cubs will be right back in action Thursday, when they open play in the New Caney ISD Tournament.

Thursday, the Cubs will face HCYA at 4:30.  Friday’s schedule includes Baytown Lee at 10:30 and Alvin at 4:30.

The tourney will conclude with bracket play, Saturday.
