Sammy began working with the Police Department’s K-9 Program in 2010. Officer Mark Pierce was paired with the dog. During their time together, Sammy assisted in the detection of narcotics and the capture of wanted felons.

During the City Council meeting, Sammy’s ownership was transferred over to Officer Pierce. The City Council commended Sammy for his dedication to protect and serve the citizens of Brenham, and wished him a good and enjoyable life of retirement.

Sammy is retiring at nine-years-old, which is 63 in dog years.
