COTTON GIN FESTIVAL ITEMS ON BURTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA

The City of Burton is making plans for this year’s Cotton Gin Festival.

During Monday afternoon’s meeting of the Burton City Council they will consider approving the closure of several downtown streets for the April 21st Cotton Gin Festival.  Main Street would be closed between Texas Street and Spur 125 for both the Cotton Gin Parade and Festival.  The Council will also consider closing North Railroad Street in front of the Burton Roadhouse for a street dance.  If approved, North Railroad Street would be closed from 4:00 – 11:00 p.m. on April 21st for a dance with Texas Unlimited Band.

Also on the agenda for Monday’s meeting, the Burton City Council will cancel the City election set for May 5th as there are no opposed candidates.  They are expected to consider appointing a municipal court judge, and approve amendments to the budget.

The Burton City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Burton City Hall.
