A Hempstead man remains in the Washington County Jail charged with arson in connection with a car fire on September 22nd.

52 year old Dewayne Rydell Gage of Hempstead is being held on $100,000 bond after his arrest at his residence last week.  Gage’s arrest came after an investigation into a car fire in the 7000 block of Chadwick Hogan Road near Chappell Hill.  Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies Misty Chandler and Dylyn Jernigan obtained information at the scene which indicated the fire was intentionally set.  Criminal Investigation Sergeant Damon Wagner, assisted by State Fire Marshals Heath Mahlmann and David Rives, conducted the investigation.  As a result of interviews and evidence obtained, Gage was arrested and charged with the second degree felony.  He is also being held under no bond by the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole related to a parole violation.
