PUBLIC HEARING ON ROUND TOP BUILDING RESTRICTIONS MONDAY

An ongoing dispute about land use and building restrictions in the small town of Round Top may find some closure soon.

The Round Top Town Council has scheduled a public hearing for next Monday, October 30th at 8:30 a.m. at the Town Courthouse.  The Council will hear public comments and testimony concerning the proposed adoption of a revised and updated Town of Round Top Land Use Ordinance.  As the small rural town has exploded with growth the past couple of years, it has struggled with being able to control land use.

The proposed new ordinance would provide rules and regulations restricting the size, height and density of buildings and other structures, the size of yards and other open spaces, the density of population, and the location and use of buildings, structures and land.  The ordinance would also provide for administration, enforcement, interpretation and amendment of the Land Use Ordinance, and would create a Board of Adjustment.

The entire 68 page document is available for viewing on the Town of Round Top website, www.townofroundtoptexas.org.  It is also available at the Town’s Business Office at 204A North Washington Street in Round Top.

During Monday’s 8:30 a.m. public hearing, opinions, objections and comments can be expressed in writing or in person.
