The supplier of cookie dough that Blue Bell Creameries blames for possible listeria contamination has said the product tested negative for listeria prior to being sent to the Brenham based company.bb-cookie-dough-feature

Blue Bell said that it found listeria contamination in packages of cookie dough ingredients received from the Iowa based company, Aspen Hills Inc.

In a statement from Aspen Hills, the company said its product tested negative for listeria before it was shipped to Blue Bell and that the positive listeria results were obtained by Blue Bell after the product had been in their control for two months.

According to the Associated Press, Blue Bell officials are saying the boxes of cookie dough ingredient it tested from Aspen Hills was unopened, both testing by Blue Bell and an outside lab confirmed listeria.

Blue Bell issued a voluntary recall for some of its ice cream containing the chocolate chip cookie dough pieces in ten states including: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.  No illnesses have been reported.

  1. SUPPLIER SAYS NO LISTERIA IN PRODUCT BEFORE BLUE BELL.

Did you really expect them to own up to it??

  2. If the supplier tested negative and Bluebell tested positive on an unopened container then this can only mean one thing…the mailman got hungry, opened it up to eat some cookie dough, listeria accidentally got in and contaminated it, then the mailman closed it back up. It is the only logical explanation in my opinion.
