WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CANVASS VOTE TUESDAY

The Washington County Commissioners will canvass the returns for the General Election when they meet next Tuesday.county commissioners 8-2-16

Canvassing the vote is the process in which the county commissioners approve the final count of votes cast in the county during the election. The commissioners will also act upon the approval of a bond extension for Judge Eric Berg.

Washington County Judge John Brieden says Berg is in a different situation than the other people that ran in the latest election. Judge Berge was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Judge Roy, therefore his bond was temporary. Judge Brieden says Berg’s new bond will go until December 31st of 2018, at which time there will be a regular election.

In other business, the commissioners will discuss two notices of proposed buried utility lines- one for a water line repair on Gene’s Lane and the other for a water line repair on Old Gay Hill Road.

The Washington County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in chambers 103 in the courthouse.
