CANNERY KITCHEN TO HOST FORUM EVERY MONDAY IN FEBRUARY FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

In celebration of Black History Month, the Cannery Kitchen in Brenham will host a series of Black History Forums.

Every Monday this month, except for February 17th, a guest speaker will discuss a special topic from 6 to 8 p.m. at the kitchen, located in Brenham at 314 East Alamo Street.

Tonight (Monday), Dr. James Dennis, Jr., professor emeritus from California State University at Northridge, will cover immigration.  Dr. Dennis worked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement, and was arrested as a freedom fighter in Mississippi.

Next Monday, February 10th, Dr. Kamen Williams from Georgia State Public Health will discuss socializing black boys and girls to be successful.

February 17th is the Washington County Political Candidates Forum, for both Republicans and Democrats.  Candidates wishing to attend the forum can RSVP by calling 979-661-6547.

The final forum on February 24th will feature Helen Harris as she discusses black Wall Street versus 2019 black business enterprise.

The free events are being hosted by the Brenham Activist Association and Concerned Citizens of Progress.  The public is invited to attend.
