FATAL COLLISION FRIDAY ON HIGHWAY 290 NEAR BRENHAM

  

Authorities were called out to a fatality accident Friday night, about two-tenths of a mile east of Brenham.

DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan reports that about 7:40 p.m., a 2013 Toyota Prius was pulling onto US Highway 290 East from Wonder Hill Road, towards Brenham.  It was then struck by a 2007 BMW headed eastbound, towards Hempstead.

The driver of the Toyota, 66-year-old Amy Grimes of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the BMW, 61-year-old Michael Walker, also of Houston, was taken to Scott and White in Brenham with non-life threatening injuries.

The Brenham Fire Department provided light for the investigation and helped with traffic control, while EMS provided patient care.

The roads were closed for several hours, as authorities cleared the scene.  Investigation continues.
