Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak has recently returned from Grapevine, after attending an annual sheriff’s training conference.

Hanak attended the Sheriff’s Association of Texas' 140th Annual Training Conference in Grapevine from July 21-24.

Over 1,500 people were in attendance, including nearly every Texas sheriff.  There were over 240 exhibits at the Expo, where guests could learn about new technology and products being offered to law enforcement.

Held annually in cities across the state, the event allows federal, state, county and city officers to network and discuss issues that affect law enforcement officials, both state and nation-wide.

This year’s conference gave presentations on topics such as mental health issues in jails, court security, Texas’ Public Safety Broadband Program, civil process issues, and public safety in regards to mass casualty incidents, among others.

Sheriff Hanak thanks the staff of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas—especially Washington County resident and Executive Director Steve Westbrook—for a well-planned and enjoyable conference.
