COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS REPAIRS AT EXPO CENTER

Expo Director Harrison Williams.

The awarding of the contract for a construction manager-at-risk for repairs at the Washington County Expo office building and event center is up for discussion, Tuesday at the County Commissioners meeting.

Several facilities at the Expo suffered damage as a result of February’s winter storm.  Expo Director Harrison Williams said pipes burst, causing the office building and the event center to flood.  The facilities suffered major damage.

Williams expects the repairs for the office building and event center to take at least four months.  As repairs are completed, office operations will relocate to the country creations building, located directly behind the current office building.

Commissioners are also expected to:

Approve of a right of way parade permit for the Independence Community Independence Day Celebration Parade.

Hold a presentation for service awards for Washington County employees with five years of service.

Proclaim June as Salvation Army month in Washington County.

Consider appointing Erin Thibodeaux, Christina Snow, ChrisAnn Stretch and Jennifer Campbell to the Washington County Child Welfare Board.

The Commissioners Court will meet Tuesday morning at 9:00 in the Courthouse meeting room.

  1. That is very sad that this problem is still not fixed yet It should have been done right away. How much money has the rental of the building lost Now it won’t be ready for the fair 4 months away. Get it together people. How hard is it to call a company and get it fixed or had the water shut off before the cold weather came in. Stupid to me. And nobody got fired for all the damage that could have been nothing
